Our passage reminds us that the early church grappled with the unique expressions of the ‘Good News’ that grew up in gentile territory. It was painful for the church to grow into places it had not taken root before. The discussion Peter contributed to included an insistence that the traditions of the Jewish world were not to make embracing the Gospel difficult. Mission changes both those who share it and those who hear. What does it look like for us to embrace openness, discomfort, humility, and the empowerment of whole communities as we share the gospel?
