The Lost
Reading: Luke 15 The three parables that make up Luke 15 are a presentation of the radical grace that Jesus offers. They are told, significantly, in response to criticism for teaching ‘notorious sinners’. Jesus tells three stories that set up a theme of lost, found, party. The third of these, the Parable of the Lost Son, adds to this pattern by extending the story to include one who rejects the party element. This is not only an account of the grace and welcome of God but also an invitation for us to join in the celebration of grace alongside God.
