From Series: "God's Story is God's Glory P"
Easter
A message from the series "God's Story is God's Glory P." Reading: John 20:1-18 Irenaeus is famous for saying, “The glory of God is a human being fully alive.” This could have been said of the dominant story Jesus raising of Lazarus in the Gospel of John. How much more of the resurrection of Jesus himself! Despite all the predictions Jesus made of the resurrection moment, our passage clearly demonstrates that those closest to Jesus were anything but expecting this twist in the glory-of-God plot. Mary Magdalene did not expect this. Nor did Simon Peter and the disciple with him that first resurrection morning. The event of the resurrection is the foundation on which we celebrate the ‘glory of God’ not only in the historic resurrection of Jesus but also in the way God continues to invite all of us to be more alive for God.
